Before becoming a consultant, James spent 23 years as a regulator at the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). During his time with the FCA, James held a number of significant roles including Authorisations Manager and PSD2 Accountable Executive. James was also a member of the European Banking Authority working group which developed the information requirements set out in the EBA’s authorisation ‘Guidelines’.
Mahad Mohamoud Abdillahi is a financial regulation expert with over a decade of experience in developing regulatory frameworks for banks, non-bank financial institutions, and payment service providers. He has extensive expertise in regulatory policy, compliance, and supervisory affairs. Holding a bachelor’s degree in economics and a master’s degree in administrative law, he has built a strong foundation in financial systems, legal frameworks, and regulatory compliance. He currently serves as the Director of the Licensing and Supervision Department at the Central Bank of Somalia.
Musa Itopa JIMOH, Director, Payments System Policy Department at the Central Bank of Nigeria has been instrumental in implementing various payment system initiatives such as the Nigerian Payment System Regulatory Sandbox, Open Banking, Contactless payments, and more. He played a significant role in the Technical Working Committee on the Nigerian Central Bank Digital Currency (eNaira), and led the team that implemented the CBN's Payments System Vision 2025. He has also held the position of Director of Capacity Development Department from November 2023 to December 2024, where he implemented the capacity building strategy

Karol Karpinski is a Senior Financial Sector Specialist at the World Bank, where he manages the Remittance Prices Worldwide database.
